Happy Post-4th O’ July ya’ll! WOO HOO

So now that we got all those hot dog, hamburger, BEER and fireworks shenanigans outta the way (and let’s be frank.. those “shenanigans” never really “go away” they just go on a short hiatus LOL), it’s back to the grind.. for all of us!

Speaking of coming back, we’ve decided to rotate in another fan favorite today. This one I actually had someone tell me, and I quote, “It speaks to my soul!” WOW That was such a profound statement that we were like WTH, let’s do it (and it was also time too):

HI-HI:

• “NOM NOM” PORK (aka Vietnamese Nem Nuong)

When we first introduced this dish a couple of months ago, this kinda settled it for us on something: you guys LOVE pork! I mean, Chicken may be the meat of preference in the Greater Los Angeles area, but you guys DEVOUR pork.. and this one was no exception especially since it’s covered in a meat sauce too! :)

While not big news, we’re also welcoming back plain and simple:

• SK Chopped Side Salad

It was bound to happen, and it’s back now. So for those of you that want a lil “salad” on the side for your meal… here it is again. It’s a mini-version of the SK CHOPPED SALAD w/ the lime vinaigrette dressing

Let’s start with the obvious once (since you can actually see it on the menu)

• BRAISED VN BEEF

Looks like this new dish was welcome w/ open arms too… well be prepared to let go as we rip this from your loving arms and take it away (I know, that’s cruel, but that imagery works, right? ^_^).  You have one more week before it leaves the lunch menu!

And let’s not forget the fan favorite people want to act like they don’t wanna love, but they love it more than they would like to admit

• SPAM FRIED RICE

So you like it, and that’s… ALRIGHT! We do too.  And after this week… *POOF* it’s gone.. or maybe it’s *POOF* you ate it all before you know it… either way, one more week!

JAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES??

So if you’ve actually read this far, you’re obviously INCREDIBLY bored and don’t want to go back to work (I dun blame ya ^_^), I just wanted to take a quick moment to make a quick statement:

“If you don’t LOVE garlic, do NOT get the JAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES!”

Got a recent comment that it tasted like there was a strong garlic flavor (pssst- there’s only granulated garlic AND garlic infused oil… not even any garlic cloves in it!!!), and guess what.. that’s RIGHT! We LOOOOOOOVE garlic, and that’s not a bad thing at all. ^_^

That’s it, I just wanted to point that out just as a matter of fact. :)

HUZZAH! Dins Dins is back on tonight and tomorrow night (except no Din Dins this Saturday, m’kay!).

FYI- this pic above is NOT real… well, the little guy is, but the logo on him (or her) is not real… YET!  I just photoshop’ed it and had a little fun (one can dream, right? ^_^)

Aside from that tangential comment…

SO come back from the SK Mac+Cheese(+BACON!), Double-fried Sweet Ginger Chicken Wings and MAYBE even the Pandan Flan! (pretty please?)

And don’t forget, we’re not open this Saturday (and don’t forget we do validate if you get in before 7pm too!)

Btw, from now until we run out, we’re gonna be patriotic and give Red, White and… ummm GREEN (they didn’t have BLUE) breath mints for ANYONE that gets JAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES? Why, cause some o’ you are scared of your garlic breath and it’s JULY 4th!!!

It’s another week (I really have lost track of which week it is), and it’s another rotation!  This week’s Bye-bye dish is one that is MOST beloved and is probably our most popular dish to date:

I know, I know… lots of you love it! I know, we went thru literally a weeks worth and 2.5 days when it came back.. WHOA!

Some of you love this, some of you don’t… but that’s alright! Honestly w/ 50+ different dishes you can’t like ‘em all (and if you do I’m still gonna call BS), but we aren’t rotating this out because of that… it’s just because it’s time! :)

• LEMONGRASS TOFU

And the only side to compete w/ the Korean Glass Noodles for popularity:

• JAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES

WOW… the memories. All the favorites are coming back (and leaving too). And something I JUST noticed and didn’t even realize until now… the age ol’ SK struggle of PORK vs TOFU is BACK! (even tho Tofu wins in this case since we know the pork chop’s leavin’ ^_^)

Oh man, always outta time to give you some more witless jibba jabba… so I’ll just have to leave you with that.  And if you haven’t yet, watch THE FOOD in my previous post. It’s hilarious… if you want a lil hint on why, let’s just say it rhymes w/ SHMOCAINE! (wink wink) ^_^

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, we are ALSO not open on Monday, July 5th since most of the Financial District (aka “the banks”) are closed as well. Sorry for those that wanted to come on their Monday off too.. hope we can see you some other time (like Thurs-Sat nite Din Dins! ^_^)

Happy 4th of July weekend.. btw, we AIN’T (aka ARE NOT) open tomorrow / SATURDAY, July 3rd. We too need to take a breather, but Saturday Din Dins will be back on July 10 (along w/ the Thurs + Fri Din Dins too).

We ARE open for Din Dins tonight (Fri, July 2nd, 6-9.30p) though. So if you wanna stop by, say “Hi” and maybe even grub a lil.. we won’t mind! ;)

Today is the LAST (lunch) DAY for the TAIWANESE FRIED PORK CHOP.

On an unrelated note, I wanna play more Motown at the restaurant, and here’s one of my favorite songs too.

Short anecdote about this song: one time my car radio got stolen so I didn’t have any music in my car anymore… so I used to listen to this song every morning, and then sing this “SAME OLD SONG” all the way to work. Seriously, I would listen, and then hope I remembered the lyrics enough to sing all the way to work. (I know, I’m a dork LOL ^_^)

Hey, so we’re not ALL about the food, but also about the people that make the food too.  SO if our guys aren’t TOO focused on making your food, maybe you can wish Juve (our Sous) and Emir (one of the VERY talented Line Cooks) a very Happy Birthday through the Pass! Who knows, maybe they’ll hook you up… and if they do, just don’t let me know! LOL just kidding… do let me know! haha

Aside from that tomfoolery…

FYI- we will NOT be open this Saturday night. Nothing’s going on, and it’s July 4th weekend. We’ll open up again the next weekend for the next Grand Performances concert.  Oh yeah, we will NOT be open on Monday too… it’s a bank holiday.

And don’t forget.. it’s the LAST WEEK for TAIWANESE FRIED PORK CHOP!!! ^_^

Damn, that late night karaoke session is gonna kill me today… with that said, HAPPY NEW WAVE WEDNESDAY! And how can you not love TRUE by Spandau Ballet! (I still don’t know what a “Spandau” is, but I’m down just because of this song)
