Happy Post-LA STREET FOOD FEST ya’ll!

And before we get into the few (of a LOT) of pictorial tomfoolery from the event, let’s just jump into the going-ons of this week:

Two INCREDIBLY beloved dishes are leaving us this week (to return again… ummm.. whenever!):

SPICY “CRACK” CRAB CAKES
Japanese Garlic Noodles

For those that are new (all 6 of you that we met at the Rose Bowl this weekend that weren’t completely put off by our constant “balls” jokes LOL), we rotate the menu every WEEK! Why? Because we can! ^_^ (and that’s just our concept… but that’s a more boring and less bold answer than the former :D)

And we’re changing this one up by adding minced kimchi + gochujang (Korean sweet chili paste) on topsies:

But who cares, let’s just move on to the awesome ridiculousness that was the LA STREET FOOD FEST for us. Rather than write more boring words and lingo (outside of the fact that they created a WHOLE new category just for us: BEST ORIGINAL SHOWMANSHIP), here are just a FEW of the pictures. On the eve of our first LARGE SCALE food fest (aka LA STREET FOOD FEST / @lafoodfest), I can’t help but take a quick moment to reflect after preparing 3,000+ of our (currently) most coveted/popular dish- the Crispy Tofu Balls (and that ain’t no joke either, they are READY!!!)

If we NEVER make it farther than we already have now, I can safely say we are VERY fortunate to have made so many new good foodie friends and fans in the process. Why am I bringing this up now? Look at the pics above, we got these guys (especially Matt Kim who you’ll notice in EVERY PICTURE) to help us out ALL week for prep AND during the fest tomorrow at the Rose Bowl. It’s NOT easy and we wouldn’t have been able to do this without these guys… and we’re really lucky to have all these guys (including Felicia who isn’t in any of these pics) as our new found friends in this scary world of… FOOD SERVICE! ^_^

Thanks to Julian, Christine, Matt, Remil (Mr. SK Mayor), Danny, Dan, Caleb, Felicia, Misty and Justin for all your help… (I’m hoping this post gets to them so they don’t flake on us tomorrow for our big day! LOL)

And if anything, at least we got THIS out of it (total AWESOMENESS = Shaved Snow from CLASS 302 in Rowland Heights) ^_^

Today’s the LAST DAY for NOM NOM PORK

We’re partnering up with Longboards Ice Cream again today for lunch: Eat at SK, get $1 a Hand-Dipped Bar from their SWEET van!

NO DIN DINS service tomorrow (Sat, July 24th), because I gotta wear THIS at the LA STREET FOOD FEST tomorrow ^_^

We are serving DIN DINS tonight, and if you didn’t know the LEMONGRASS TOFU is on the dinner menu and tonight is the LAST NIGHT for it before it officially goes away for a lil bit

Lastly, we’re partnering up with the AWESOME Grand Performances gang next Saturday, 7/31 for a RESERVED SEAT (it’s usually first come, first.. umm seated) + Dinner for 2 giveaway for the PACHA MASSIVE & NONSTOP BHANGRA concert! Okay okay… so it’s the last (lunch wk) for the LEMONGRASS TOFU, Dinner (aka Din Dins) is back on tonight (Th-Sat/6-9.30p folks!), coming back w/ tasty companions BRAISED VIETNAMESE BEEF (aka BO KHO) and we’re bringing back the SK Mac+Cheese(+Bacon) with all it’s shitake mushroom, jalapeno, fried shallots and did I mention BACON goodness. Ya got that? I’m sure you do…

With that outta the way, you mighta noticed this large light blue pic above (thx for letting me steal it from your site Shawna.. please!?!?!).. that didn’t happen by accident (maybe). And if you didn’t know it, we’re one of the 60 BEST vendors attending this BADASS event. (and we might be at the bottom of the barrel, but being the worst of the best… is still one of the best.. right??? ^_^).

I’m sure you’re asking yourself, “Now that I’m bored, what kind of other nonsensical funny stuff can I find on YouTube since Team SK has nothing interesting to say.” But then you (pause) for a moment and I’m sure you THEN ask yourself:

“Why Team SK (who is o’ so wise and will never stop with the bloggin’ hilarity) should I go to this wonderous and magical event?”

Well fans (an average of 6.25 of ya out there now… YES!), here are a couple of my favorite reasons why:

we’re there (can I get a internet geek… w00t w00t!!)
it’s ALL-INCLUSIVE, so no more pesky fees once you get in (and pay for the tix online!)
we’re (as in the par-TAY) taking over the EFFIN ROSE BOWL BABEY!!! (yeah, we’re on the field!!!)
food, drink, ice cream, music and SK… what more could you want? (don’t answer that Chuck Norris… I’m warning you!!! ^_^)
and here’s my last reason for those of you that are craving, wanting or dying to have these…

Or in other words, “CRISPY F’ING TOFU BALLS my friends!”

We’re making 2,000+ of these crispy green bad boys (betta recognize ya’ll!), and if you ever wanted to gorge on a tofu ball as child or sometime in your very strange life span… now’s the TIME CHOCKOS! LOL

We’re not making these again at the restaurant until around September (maybe even OCTOBER), so if you want ‘em… come and GET ‘EM! (and enjoy the other food while at the fest too, and feel free to show the other vendors your SK love… please?!?!).

Unlike the last event (yeah, yeah… they and WE ALL know what “some” of the comments were from the last one), this is VERY limited too (let’s just say it’s a fraction of the reported 15-20k that went to the last one).

Hello… the SPICY (aka “Crack”) CRAB CAKES are back!

(no time like the present to jump into what we got back, right?)

And for those that are new to the SK fold: these are indeed made with IMITATION CRAB MEAT, but it’s actually flaky and not like that normal imitation tube crab meat we’re all used to gettin’ at that there local grocery store. :) SO if you have an aversion towards this stuff, you’ve been warned… suckas!!! LOL

Time’s awastin’, so I’m just going to jump into this (while still dreaming about that shaved ice/snow we got at CLASS 302 in Rowland Heights last night… G’DAMN it was awesome!!):

Ya know the great thing about a novel idea such as NEW WAVE WEDNESDAY, we can go on-and-on-and-on-and… well, you get the picture (at least I hope you do!)

Is there any other tie in to SK and the former New Wave craze yet? NAW, it’s just fun and I likes me some New Wave (and I’m gonna stick to my story that food just plain goes down better with a lil New wave in your life too ^_^).

WHERE’S THE FOOD… POOOOOOOORN!

Yeah foo’s, where is it? Oh yeah, this is addressed to US, RIGHT! Well, I broke (aka DROPPED) my trust Canon SD600 a lil while ago and alls I got is my blackberry and iPhone to work with (and yeah, running a restaurant can sometimes mean your too broke to buy a SWEET ASS S90), but they will come back soon… I promise!
