A new week, and a new menu… (item[s]). ^_^
OUT: NEBRASKA ANGUS JAPANESE MEATBALL CURRY + PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE
(they’ll be back, and considering how popular that curry was… probably sooner than you might imagine ;p)
IN: CHINESE HOISIN HAMBURGER (aka Chinese Hamburger) + COCONUT RICE
So here’s the deal, and maybe I’ll do a RULES ONLY post so I can conveniently link it on the side (but that would require effort so maybe I’ll wait on that LOL): EVERY entree dish we’ll keep AT LEAST 2 weeks before we decide to rotate it out.  Any side dishes at least 1 week, and in this case the KOREAN GLASS NOODLES (aka “japchae”) are staying an additional week since so many of you love ‘em! :)
SO WHAT’S LEAVING AFTER THIS WEEK?
To tell you the truth, we don’t know yet??!?  Sometimes it’s actually hard for us to figure out what we’re gonna let go too (even though it looks easy ^_^).
What we MIGHT do is actually rotate a new dish IN and not one out this week.  Not quite sure. We’ll make our decision in a day or two and let ya’ll know.
Otherwise, we’re six weeks into this (yeah, 6!) and still chuggin’ along.  Don’t know what to say but… COOL!
Alrighty, gotta get ready for “work”, but until then…
So I was watching THE PACIFIC which is produced and narrarated by Tom Hanks, and it got me to thinking about Tom Hanks’ incredible (and varied) past including one of my favorite (and ridiculously hilarious) shows from the 80’s… BOSOM BUDDIES of course (I know, COMPLETELY unrelated to food, but it’s a nice distraction while you’re waiting, right?). Who cares, just watch the opening and revel in the good times (and Billy Joel’s awesome song):

In between buying the groceries, worrying if people are going to show up (purdy please peeps ^_^) and prepping for Saturday’s Downtown Brunch-tacular… I was able to sneak a peak at some food blogs, and OMFG this sounds so wrong and yet LOOKS so good.  And NO, we did not make this (yet).  Read the description below , enjoy and don’t forget to…

PS - I think we’re going to do CHINESE HAMBURGER w/ spicy mayo AND HONEY PANKO CRUSTED CRISPY TOFU BALLS (i.e. “Carnivorous Game Changer #2”) on Sunday.  Not sure yet, but that looks likely.  We’re going to play with an improved recipe for the tofu balls too (just in case the few of you that did have it were wondering ^_^)

But anyway, Chinese spiced hamburger meat + our Japanese garlic noodle side were huge an effen HIT! I mean, we made waves of Richter Scale proportions!! Okay, maybe not something that would cause a natural catostrophe, but enough to move a mountain… maybe a hill… or an ant mound (which I will refrain from doing cause them some MEAN Mo’ Fo’s them ants are). Either way… Hip hip… HOORAY! “We so happy,” we’ll share a montage of pics from this evening that only the new and improved (or “unimproved” when it lost my previous F’in post earlier today) Tumblr can only offer. Enjoy the best of the best, and if you have an award idea please submit ‘em. I love a good craptacular idea that I can apply my superbly inferior photoshop skills on.


SERVICE UPDATE

  • Firstly, NO SERVICE THIS SUNDAY. Why? Ummm does fireworks, bbq, American independence, ID4 or Anime Expo (YEA, I love being an OTAKU!) ring a bell for you??? AHHHH DAMN YOU CHUCK NORRIS!

  • Sunday service will RESUME on July 12th, from 6-9p. And that’s a fact…jack!

  • Our NEXT UPCOMING SERVICE will be Wed., July 8th from 6-9p. This will be a delciously delightful repeat raised from the ashes though the power of LOVE and a dish that is a many splendored thing… and by “thing” I mean a dish that is so incredibly succulent, flavorful and is HIGHLY requested for an immediate encore… Vietnamese lemongrass chicken!!! (applause applause….and… STOP) ^^

So there you have it. On that note, something unrelated, but it’s so damn cute and everyone I KNOW that hits this is so obsessed. Let’s talk about AsianPoses.com. I mean SERIOUSLY, they’re so damn cute. Either way, we are going to go the way of the Asian Pose Warrior, and try to incorporate more of these because… well, it’s just plain genius, hilarious and plain CUTE! UPDATE: We’re STILL serving this Wednesday, July 1st from 6 - 9p, but instead of lemon grass chicken it’s going to be this new Chinese hamburger meat for our tacos, burritos and sandwiches that we’ll be serving too. I just tried ‘em and what can I say… she TOTALLY PWN’ED ‘EM!

What does this video above have to do with anything? Again, not a damn thing outside of just cheering you up! But, if it helps, it’s a hint for what we’re NOT serving this week… next week… or almost any week (until Thi proves me wrong). I do have a quick update for this Wednesday service though:

We will NOT be serving lemon grass chicken this Wednesday anymore.

So sorry for everyone that loves that dish. It’s because our Kitchen Ninja has recently been inspired by her newest creation that she thinks is, and I quote, “SOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD!” We will be serving lemon grass chicken the following Wednesday instead. Sorry everyone. That’s what happens in this ADD society of ours.

One moment it’s lemon grass chicken, and the next moment monstrous sized moths and 3-headed dragons from space come and invade our world because they have the STARRY KITCHEN munchies and DEMAND Chinese hamburgers upon reading our blog, and only a lone boy carrying an oyster shell housing some mini-Japanese women can help control this dangerous moth (who will eat all cashmere sweaters in his PATH) and a radioactive female (I REPEAT, F-E-M-A-L-E) prehistoric dinosaur with the power to emit radioactive fire once she eats our yummy Japanese Garlic Noodles can stop these fiendish and kinda selfish space monsters. WOW there’s a lot going on this weekend, so I’ll try to keep this simple and relatively short:

REMINDER: it’s CRUCIAL that if you park in the area you pay attention to the parking instructions for our garage (which should be the cheapest and most convenient option)

Don’t forget that this is our 1ST time here… so if we mess up a little here, a little there, and maybe some more here, there and everywhere… purdy please don’t be so hard on us… we just wanna learn! ^^

Just in case you forward this to your friend, here’s the quick CONCEPT:

We make 1 meat & 1 veggie dish, choose your protein, choose how you want it (taco, burrito or Vietnamese banh mi sandwich), we serve it w/ our side and that’s it.  No more, no less, no debate, and no discussion (hey, we only made 1 meat & veggie, so that’s all we gots!)

  • Meat: a new VN LEMONGRASS CHICKEN (it’s supa-dupa yummy too.. it’s da new hotness… really it is!!!)
  • Veggie5-SPICE POPCORN TOFU (cruchy, compact… all the things you don’t expect w/ tofu.  Oh yeah, and it has some flava too)
  • SideJAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES (delciousness for all, which is never a bad thing right?)

Whew, done with the Saturday info, and we’ll keep this train-a-goin’ (choo choo)… and yes, I do feel the need to insert text sound effects whenever possible (SNAP).  It makes posts more RICH, engaging and SASSY (that’s what the internetS tells me though… to stay SASSY… oh I heart you internetS)

SUNDAY, 11/22 (in NoHo):

  • MeatCHINESE HAMBURGER meat served w/ our spicy sriracha mayo sauce (trust that this is hearty, delicious… and did I mention hearty?)

First and formost…. THANK YOU for those that came!  Wasn’t that chicken just EFFEN juicy and delicious?  Sweet JEBUS it was, right?  I mean, it’s so good that I just want to run out into the streets, strip down to my skivvies (<— another link just in case you haven’t heard that term in a while) and start singing showtunes, Queen and… ABBA!
On the topic of ABBA, for all our patrons that showed up last night, we dedicate this YouTube-riffic song to you.  And just for you (all 2 of you that read this blog on a sadly periodic basis… I’m sorry ^_^) please replace the word “Music” with “Business”, “Songs” with “Tacos” and “Singing” with “Serving”.  And if you’re too lazy to play the song to envision the message we have personally crafted with two minutes of TLC for you, the chorus would go something like this:
“Thank you for the BUSINESS, the TACOS I’m SERVING…”




SELL OUTS… OR SELLING OUT???
So we’ve been back for about two weeks now from being in-town/out-of-town, and we’re selling out more often than not!  I guess if you’re running a business out of the back of your apartment that NO ONE can see from the street… this is a good thing (or so they say).
We’re starting to get a LOT more Yelp’ers too (you know who you are… and thanks so much and don’t hesitate to YELP away about us ^_^).  There SHOULD be a badge on the left if you want to check out the reviews we have.  We’re really thankful for them, and dread the day it drops from 5-star status (we’re just so used to it now :p).
SO the moral of our story is… rain or shine, we gotta start making even MORE food!  And so we shall starting this Sunday. THANK YOU for those that came!  Wasn’t that chicken just EFFEN juicy and delicious?  Sweet JEBUS it was, right?  I mean, it’s so good that I just want to run out into the streets, strip down to my skivvies (<— another link just in case you haven’t heard that term in a while) and start singing showtunes, Queen and… ABBA!

On the topic of ABBA, for all our patrons that showed up last night, we dedicate this YouTube-riffic song to you.  And just for you (all 2 of you that read this blog on a sadly periodic basis&#8230; I&#8217;m sorry ^_^) please replace the word &#8220;Music&#8221; with &#8220;Business&#8221;, &#8220;Songs&#8221; with &#8220;Tacos&#8221; and &#8220;Singing&#8221; with &#8220;Serving&#8221;.  And if you&#8217;re too lazy to play the song to envision the message we have personally crafted with two minutes of TLC for you, the chorus would go something like this:

SELL OUTS&#8230; OR SELLING OUT???
So we&#8217;ve been back for about two weeks now from being in-town/out-of-town, and we&#8217;re selling out more often than not!  I guess if you&#8217;re running a business out of the back of your apartment that NO ONE can see from the street&#8230; this is a good thing (or so they say).
We&#8217;re starting to get a LOT more Yelp&#8217;ers too (you know who you are&#8230; and thanks so much and don&#8217;t hesitate to YELP away about us ^_^).  There SHOULD be a badge on the left if you want to check out the reviews we have.  We&#8217;re really thankful for them, and dread the day it drops from 5-star status (we&#8217;re just so used to it now :p).
SO the moral of our story is&#8230; rain or shine, we gotta start making even MORE food!  And so we shall starting this Sunday. And WHAT is it we&#8217;re serving this Sunday you ask Mr. Chuck Norris (and where the hell have you been any NORRIS&#8230; selling more Soloflex&#8217;s to unsuspecting individuals in third world countries I suspect!?!?!), I&#8217;m glad you asked my karate chopping mustache wearing friend:
