Not much more to say than that.  We loved, we cooked, we served, we howled (if you’ve met GQ, you know EXACTLY what we mean) and we had a TON OF FUN doin’ it.  We wouldn’t trade that for the world (but we might trade it for a nice set of expensive knives if it were offered to us ^^).

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.  The Kitchen Ninja may be brewing something REALLY effin creative for Turkey-day.  We just discussed it, and it’s PRETTY AMAZING.  If we do, I’ll give you more detail and a play-by-play of this out of this world idea.  I mean, WOW… but if we don’t do it…ummm… well life will go on.  I think.
SUPPER CLUB:
Last note, we’re moving forward with the Supper Club idea.  No time to explain, but it will be a prix fixe menu, we’re planning on Friday, December 11th and a limited number of seats (but probably about 20).  We’ll open it up to our fans first, and then to others a week before.  I will send more info on it, but it seems to be an idea people are keen on so we’ll give it a try. :)
And before we end this wonderfully short and more to the point post than normal, here’s a cheesy, melodramatic and kind of relevant video dedicated to… our NoHo apartment back-patio courtyard (oh how we’ll miss you… well, WE actually won’t since we live here, but YOU might).  Take it away… BOYZ II MEN:

First and formost…. THANK YOU for those that came!  Wasn’t that chicken just EFFEN juicy and delicious?  Sweet JEBUS it was, right?  I mean, it’s so good that I just want to run out into the streets, strip down to my skivvies (<— another link just in case you haven’t heard that term in a while) and start singing showtunes, Queen and… ABBA!
On the topic of ABBA, for all our patrons that showed up last night, we dedicate this YouTube-riffic song to you.  And just for you (all 2 of you that read this blog on a sadly periodic basis… I’m sorry ^_^) please replace the word “Music” with “Business”, “Songs” with “Tacos” and “Singing” with “Serving”.  And if you’re too lazy to play the song to envision the message we have personally crafted with two minutes of TLC for you, the chorus would go something like this:

So we’ve been back for about two weeks now from being in-town/out-of-town, and we’re selling out more often than not!  I guess if you’re running a business out of the back of your apartment that NO ONE can see from the street… this is a good thing (or so they say).
We’re starting to get a LOT more Yelp’ers too (you know who you are… and thanks so much and don’t hesitate to YELP away about us ^_^).  There SHOULD be a badge on the left if you want to check out the reviews we have.  We’re really thankful for them, and dread the day it drops from 5-star status (we’re just so used to it now :p).
SO the moral of our story is… rain or shine, we gotta start making even MORE food!  And so we shall starting this Sunday. And WHAT is it we’re serving this Sunday you ask Mr. Chuck Norris (and where the hell have you been any NORRIS… selling more Soloflex’s to unsuspecting individuals in third world countries I suspect!?!?!), I’m glad you asked my karate chopping mustache wearing friend:

What better way to celebrate not being shut down by the man than producing a craptacular slideshow in Windows Movie Maker with some barely visible quality faded film effects (hey, you can get all the clear versions of the pics on the Facebook Fan Page), and accompanied with the musical stylings of the guiltiest pleasure band known to mankind… AIR SUPPLY!!!

Btw, I didn’t realize how long this video was until now. Feel free to fast forward to the “good parts” that you like. This is basically just an amalgamation of pics from the last 5 weeks. Not much work was put into this other than selecting the pics, the song and hitting “AUTO MOVIE” or something like that. So, if you dun like it… dun worry, it s’alright!

If you don’t know me that well, know THIS: I’m a ROCK BAND FIEND! Not that I’m any good, but I can play for about 4-5 hours straight. But you know what I ALWAYS tell people, the minute they make SOFT ROCK BAND…oh man, it is OVER!!! ^^

WOW - It’s late, many of my friends are celebrating a friend’s screening of her AFI thesis film (CONGRATS NADINE), I’m still up and we finished serving almost 10 hours ago from the time of this post. Why is this taking so long? Well, I guess my lazy Sunday started AFTER service.

I won’t really get into it too much since I just posted this video above… SO I bet you’re wondering why? And the answer is kind of the same of why we started STARRY KITCHEN… “WHY NOT?”

Quick shout outs to a couple of the first timers that came out: Ian, Quynn, Joyce, Jeff, Hai & Joeann. All friends, and all people that couldn’t resist my annoyingly persistent FB News Feed posts (thanks FB!). There are some pics we’re going to put up on the Facebook Fan Page that Hai and Joeann took today, and we’d like to thank them for that. We’d like to thank Dan and Yuh for helping and guarding the “GQ Donation Box.” That is quite a tremendous fete, and you did it with such ease and grace that we might be calling you back in for a second interview.

Hey buckaroos,

WELCOME TO THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT CRUNCH-TACULAR

So today (6-9p) is a special crunchy treat for everyone!  I would say this could be to celebrate our now EIGHTEEN 5-star Yelp Reviews (which is awesome)... but naw!  It’s because this is what we came up with, and it really is too much fun for us ^_^

The Metro:
Before I jump into it, really quick note.  If you DIDN’T know, we’re actually REALLY close to the North Hollywood Metro stop (5-10 min walk). What we’re serving up tonight:

In the Meat corner: VIETNAMESE BAKED GROUND GARLIC PORK (aka “nem nuong”) w/ EACH dish served with crispy fried egg roll wrapper in every bite.  Everything is also served w/ what we like to call our YUM YUM SK sauce that is traditionally served w/ Nem Nuong, and is painstakingly made up of slowly cooked glutinous rice, ground chicken and all sorts of Vietnamese flavors but so DARN GOOD with this.  I don’t even know how to describe it anymore, but the best way I can is… “Drool” (that’s for you Joe and Natasha ^_^)

In the Veggie/KosherCRISPY KIMCHI RICE PATTIES (or as I like to call it, one of our our new “game changer” veggie dishes because it’s so crisp-ity crunch-ity that you don’t need meat!!!)

The Side: ALL dishes served with I THINK JAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES which are oh so garlicky + delicious. DOH, can’t find my pic. Oh well, you’re just going to have to believe me on this one.  If you like garlic, Parmesan cheese and noodles… you’ll DEVOUR this.  If this changes, I’ll update on Facebook/twitter.

And there you have it.  Tonight’s going to be a tasty and fun night, ‘cause this sh-t is GOOD! ^_^  Hope to see you guys out, and as always LIMITED quantity (especially with our “game changer” ^_^).

WOW, it has been QUITE a while since we&#8217;ve had a full on blog post.  Lots of posts of food we&#8217;ve eaten, explored and cooked&#8230; but not much content about anything else, huh?!  Well, first off&#8230;

If you haven&#8217;t have this&#8230; O&#8230;M&#8230;F&#8230;G!  It&#8217;s so juicy, tender and delicious!  Every morsel&#8230; EVERY BITE of this stuff is to be cherished.  Can&#8217;t you see the pic.  It even glistens in the light because it&#8217;s oh so GOOD!
And if you&#8217;re just joining us (sounds like I&#8217;m writing for the radio now), our concept (I will seriously write a page fully explaining it and making fun of people who still need to de-program their brains) is VERY SIMPLE:
ONLY ONE MEAT AND ONE VEGGIE DISH SERVED THREE DIFFERENT WAYS (THAT YOU PICK): TACO, BURRITO OR A BANH MI STYLE SANDWICH
Now that I&#8217;ve got that off my chest&#8230; we&#8217;re BACK and in full swing with SERIOUS planning going towards some kind of expansion.  Maybe we&#8217;ll find a bigger back yard, do a mobile supper club, peddle our wares at various farmers markets.  We don&#8217;t know.  We do know this, it&#8217;s been a lot of fun starting this, and we intend on growing it.

Oh yeah, we have a picture of food above too!  haha  Sorry, when I eat Starry Kitchen food I reach Nirvana (the state of mind, not the rock band dummies!) and&#8230; well, you get it.  I just can&#8217;t be held responsible.  TODAY&#8217;S CULPRIT: thit kho tacos!  That is exactly what is pictured above.  The piece de resistance are the hard boiled eggs that are also cooked into the stew which gives them that rich and tasty brown color all us Vietnamese kids have grown to love.  And we sold out, and that&#8217;s the story I&#8217;m stickin&#8217; to!

Not much more to say than that.  We loved, we cooked, we served, we howled (if you&#8217;ve met GQ, you know EXACTLY what we mean) and we had a TON OF FUN doin&#8217; it.  We wouldn&#8217;t trade that for the world (but we might trade it for a nice set of expensive knives if it were offered to us ^^).

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.  The Kitchen Ninja may be brewing something REALLY effin creative for Turkey-day.  We just discussed it, and it&#8217;s PRETTY AMAZING.  If we do, I&#8217;ll give you more detail and a play-by-play of this out of this world idea.  I mean, WOW&#8230; but if we don&#8217;t do it&#8230;ummm&#8230; well life will go on.  I think.
SUPPER CLUB:
Last note, we&#8217;re moving forward with the Supper Club idea.  No time to explain, but it will be a prix fixe menu, we&#8217;re planning on Friday, December 11th and a limited number of seats (but probably about 20).  We&#8217;ll open it up to our fans first, and then to others a week before.  I will send more info on it, but it seems to be an idea people are keen on so we&#8217;ll give it a try. :)

THANK YOU for those that came!  Wasn&#8217;t that chicken just EFFEN juicy and delicious?  Sweet JEBUS it was, right?  I mean, it&#8217;s so good that I just want to run out into the streets, strip down to my skivvies (&lt;&#8212; another link just in case you haven&#8217;t heard that term in a while) and start singing showtunes, Queen and&#8230; ABBA!

So we&#8217;ve been back for about two weeks now from being in-town/out-of-town, and we&#8217;re selling out more often than not!  I guess if you&#8217;re running a business out of the back of your apartment that NO ONE can see from the street&#8230; this is a good thing (or so they say).
We&#8217;re starting to get a LOT more Yelp&#8217;ers too (you know who you are&#8230; and thanks so much and don&#8217;t hesitate to YELP away about us ^_^).  There SHOULD be a badge on the left if you want to check out the reviews we have.  We&#8217;re really thankful for them, and dread the day it drops from 5-star status (we&#8217;re just so used to it now :p).
SO the moral of our story is&#8230; rain or shine, we gotta start making even MORE food!  And so we shall starting this Sunday. WOW, it has been QUITE a while since we&#8217;ve had a full on blog post.  Lots of posts of food we&#8217;ve eaten, explored and cooked&#8230; but not much content about anything else, huh?!  Well, first off&#8230;

If you haven&#8217;t have this&#8230; O&#8230;M&#8230;F&#8230;G!  It&#8217;s so juicy, tender and delicious!  Every morsel&#8230; EVERY BITE of this stuff is to be cherished.  Can&#8217;t you see the pic.  It even glistens in the light because it&#8217;s oh so GOOD!
And if you&#8217;re just joining us (sounds like I&#8217;m writing for the radio now), our concept (I will seriously write a page fully explaining it and making fun of people who still need to de-program their brains) is VERY SIMPLE:
