UPDATE: Forgot to mention, we are ALSO not open on Monday, July 5th since most of the Financial District (aka “the banks”) are closed as well. Sorry for those that wanted to come on their Monday off too.. hope we can see you some other time (like Thurs-Sat nite Din Dins! ^_^) Happy 4th of July weekend.. btw, we AIN’T (aka ARE NOT) open tomorrow / SATURDAY, July 3rd. We too need to take a breather, but Saturday Din Dins will be back on July 10 (along w/ the Thurs + Fri Din Dins too). We ARE open for Din Dins tonight (Fri, July 2nd, 6-9.30p) though. Short anecdote about this song: one time my car radio got stolen so I didn’t have any music in my car anymore… so I used to listen to this song every morning, and then sing this “SAME OLD SONG” all the way to work. Seriously, I would listen, and then hope I remembered the lyrics enough to sing all the way to work. (I know, I’m a dork LOL ^_^)

Vietnamese baked catfish… YA’LL (aka ca nuong)… it’s so DARN good it’s frightening! Hey, we gotta eat too, right? So this is ANOTHER one of those dishes my wife has never made before (or hasn’t made in like 4 years). ACTUALLY, she was inspired by pictures that our friend, follower and I guess our now self-appointed “adopted child”, Anderson Le, put up on his FB. It’s from this great restaurant (name escapes me at this time) in Rosemead that does this dish AND another Vietnamese favorite, 7 course of beef (if you haven’t had this… you haven’t LIIIIIIVED my friends) You can’t really see the fish (our bad) that well in this picture because it’s covered in cilantro. You do see our “adopted child” Anderson Le posing the best way he can… with STYLE! ^_^ We’re a couple of days away from our next outing, and next one is going to be some more tasty fun. It’s this Sunday (May 31st). You can email, PM, IM, tweet us, write on our wall, comment, answer one of the questions of a previous post, post a video, post an audio clip or if you know us personally…. just call. We want “you” (in the Uncle Sam kinda way) to come out. Plus there’s always GQ the Wonder Dog to entertain and befriend too. He’s the best-est! Hey, we gotta eat too, right? So this is ANOTHER one of those dishes my wife has never made before (or hasn’t made in like 4 years). ACTUALLY, she was inspired by pictures that our friend, follower and I guess our now self-appointed “adopted child”, Anderson Le, put up on his FB. It’s from this great restaurant (name escapes me at this time) in Rosemead that does this dish AND another Vietnamese favorite, 7 course of beef (if you haven’t had this… you haven’t LIIIIIIVED my friends)

You can’t really see the fish (our bad) that well in this picture because it’s covered in cilantro. You do see our “adopted child” Anderson Le posing the best way he can… with STYLE! ^_^

We’re a couple of days away from our next outing, and next one is going to be some more tasty fun. It’s this Sunday (May 31st). You can email, PM, IM, tweet us, write on our wall, comment, answer one of the questions of a previous post, post a video, post an audio clip or if you know us personally…. just call. We want “you” (in the Uncle Sam kinda way) to come out. Plus there’s always GQ the Wonder Dog to entertain and befriend too. He’s the best-est!

Also, some people have asked us where the name STARRY KITCHEN comes from. It’s a pretty short story… and we’ll save that for the post tomorrow. (and it’s really short too) LOL

Dear CRISPY TOFU BALLS, “FAREWELL” (after tonight of course) from GQ (he’s the that’s licking me in mid-pose ^_^) and I would like to bid you  for possibly most of the summer! If people do not come and try ya tonight… they will have to wait and I will have to continue referring to “them” in the 3rd person as if I’m always having a conversation w/ you our beautifully green tofu ball friend). But it’s not just you that’s going away, is it?! We’re serving CHINESE SPICED HAMBURGER, SESAME CRUSTED TOFU all served with a side of JAPANESE GARLIC NOODLES. Btw, we thought everyone would be gone for Labor Day weekend… But we were wrong. Alrighty - we continue our quest tomorrow, Sunday, May 24th. Will this grow? Will we succeed? Only you, the consumer (friends+family+neighbors) will help us determine that. Think of it like American Idol… but without the singing, bikini girls (if I, Nguyen Tran, looked good in a bikini trust I would all for the sake of business…and narcissism) and hopefully without the drama. But YOU, the consumer determines it. But I think anyone in NoHo that’s in the know will agree… we need some cool and exciting food here. Maybe we can fill that void in your stomach for delightful delectables you thought you could only find in the outer borders of NoHo. Oh YES, we aim to conquer your need for tasty-riffic food… and to cater to your lazy tendencies by keeping it here in the inner sanctum of… North Hollywood! So come one, come all. Quantity will be limited, and we are completely expecting to sell out. Trust that my wife and I are complete foodies, and have very discriminating tastes. If you’re in the neighborhood, we double-dog-dare you to try it!!! If you don’t, when the next harsh winter in SoCal rolls around I’ll stick my tongue to a frozen lamp post just for your pleasure and amusement. If not, I’ll perform a show that involves stripper/tear-away pants for my pleasure and amusement… oh wait a minute, I anticipate most of you would NOT want that. But YOU, the consumer determines it. But I think anyone in NoHo that’s in the know will agree… we need some cool and exciting food here. Maybe we can fill that void in your stomach for delightful delectables you thought you could only find in the outer borders of NoHo. Oh YES, we aim to conquer your need for tasty-riffic food… and to cater to your lazy tendencies by keeping it here in the inner sanctum of… North Hollywood! So come one, come all. Quantity will be limited, and we are completely expecting to sell out. Trust that my wife and I are complete foodies, and have very discriminating tastes. If you’re in the neighborhood, we double-dog-dare you to try it!!! If you don’t, when the next harsh winter in SoCal rolls around I’ll stick my tongue to a frozen lamp post just for your pleasure and amusement. If not, I’ll perform a show that involves stripper/tear-away pants for my pleasure and amusement… oh wait a minute, I anticipate most of you would NOT want that. Darn you…. “KAHHHHHHHHHHHHN!” Plus, don’t make GQ feel sad. I did dress him up in a mullet wig and exploited him for our capitalistic purposes (mwahahaha), and we would hate for that to be in vein.
