SO blog entries have been seriously lacking recently. Thankfully we make a lot more food to compensate for the lack of recent blog entries. And of course we’ve neglected this baby I call my blog because we are knee deep in launching SK DT (but it is a whole lot of fun).
But I thought I’d take a moment to share with ya a new friend I haven’t met, but one I can tell ya I can easily be friends with. Her name, I dunno yet, but her alias is WEEZERMONKEY! Why that name, I dunno. Maybe she loves Weezer (I know I do), but who cares… I tweeted about my love for New Orleans Hubig’s Gas Station Pies, and she replied not only professing her love but with the blog entry she dedicated SOLELY to this awesome-licious guilty pleasure in life that few outside of NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana if you want an explanation) or even the south have experienced.
For this alone, we can be friends forever (even if we never meet in person LOL)… especially when she defended Hubig’s against blasphemous accusations that these were no different than Hostess pies.. HOSTESS!?!?!
“From what foreign land do you come from?” I say. ”Because you cannot come from this land of plentiful gas station fruit pies that are doubly guilty and delicious at the same time. You know not what you’re saying, but I will gladly blame inclement weather conditions, global warming and maybe even a solar flare for your ignorance in thinking these are the same!”

Okay, so I got that babbling out of the way, moving on…
Thankfully, I’m from the south (YAY!) The next best thing to Hubig’s for Texans would be Mrs. Bairds, but that’s a post for another time (especially since I JUST read that Mexican bakery co BIMBO now owns it… WHOA!!!)
But hey, just check out this post by clicking the picture, and hopefully you’ll make it out to NOLA OR just order some Hubig’s (save me one please) to give it a try. (oh man my mouth’s watering just typing this short post)
Alrighty, gotta go back and deal with “the man” on getting this “legit” establishment going. Laters… suckers! (<- that “suckers” was not warranted by anything tangentially related except it made me laugh for about 34 seconds before moving on with my life)
