Hello, it’s WILD CARD WEEK! (btw, no rotation this week so CRISPY TOFU BALLS are SAVED and stay another week too… WOO HOO!)

And before you skim down and figure out which dish(es) we’re bringing in today, FYI the Pineapple Fried Rice is back in da HOUSE!

(now back to the WILD CARD WEEK deliciousness! ;D)
I guess you could also consider WILD CARD WEEK a DAILY SPECIALS week (or something like that) if you wanna be technical and be one of those people that likes to call us out in trying to simplify our cuteness or attitude (what you gotta be like that?? LOL)  All-in-all we’re playin’ around, having fun some oldies but goodies, and changing the dish every day or couple of days so you don’t have to wait 3 to 6 to 8 months for SOME dishes!  First up, the meaty fan fave: TAIWANESE FRIED PORK CHOP!

And there MIGHT also be a tiny stash of the SK KARA-GE (aka Japanese Popcorn Fried Chicken) too. I’m not including a picture assuming most will miss this lil bit of boring text! ;)

OMFG its… BIZZAY!!!

We hope everyone’s having a nice December thus far.  Ours has been pretty much a… *YAWN* (insert an ENORMOUS amount of sarcasm…HERE)

We won’t lie to ya… NoHo may be shut down (*tear drop*) but there is a lot going on STILL at one time and yet ALL exciting too: prepping for DT, prepping for Supper Club, doing some catering (oh yeah, we DOES that too’s) and on… and on… and on.  WOW, who woulda thunk it, right?!?!

Wanna know what THIS is? Well, it’s a churro.  OOOH, it doesn’t look like a churro, huh?  Well it is… but it’s a Kitchen Ninja STARRY KITCHEN LATE NITE SPECIAL PANDAN VANILLA HANDROLLED CHURRO covered in sweetly decadent (and OOOOooh so good) powdered sugar!  Why is it handrolled you ask?  Because we broke the thing that supposed to give it that churro shape… but no matter because these were so DELCIOUS!!!  I mean every bite was awesome.  I might have eaten TOO many at one time and have a stomach ache because I devour desserts like a fat kid…. ummm, maybe I won’t use a fat kid analogy here… or maybe I don’t care… aww hell I can’t even think of a joke right now so I won’t go there just because of that!  But anyway, just know that F’ING A MAN I love it when the Kitchen Ninja craves for something different (and she’s not even pregnant… I think.. I mean she isn’t…I promise! ^^).

Alright, as you already know we’re serving yummy-rrific LEMONGRASS CHICKEN tomorrow.  People have been BEGGING us to bring it back… and so we did!  Our VEGGIE alternative will be a mouthwatering (I’m trying not to drool on my keyboard just thinking about it… ooops, too late!) SPICY LEMONGRASS TOFU.  All of this SK goodness served w/ a side of PEANUT DAN DAN NOODLES.  NOW, if you are either:

A completely peanut butter wussy (aka you’re “allergic” to peanuts)
You’re uninformed in the ways of cilantro (aka you just don’t like it)
Then we’ll consider a fun alternative for you like a unicorn ride, leprechaun rainbow slide or a Yeti mountain hike.  I think that’s fair… that or an extra taco (I suggest the extra taco, because the others are too ummm… cost and reality prohibitive ^^)

We’ll see everyone tomorrow.  And don’t worry about us changing.  An LA Weekly blog posting is not going to change ANYTHING about us.  I mean if we just HAPPEN to have a neon sign, wait staff, and greeting people all decked out in gucci and speaking w/ made up British accents… it still us beneath all that…pizzazz.  Yup, we’re still…. SASSY!

Until then, here’s less of a video and more of another music introduction.  It’s probably too techno-ie for the US (even though I first heard it on KROQ here), I still loves it (and I do like techno too… I think).  Enjoy PROPANE NIGHTMARES from Pendulum. Come for the pics…stay for the tacos! Okay, so this is what we ate last night. Some of you say it’s torture… I like to say I’m SHARING my experiences with you. You might think that’s a crock of boloney, but it’s not. It’s a crock full of herbs, spices, and Pan-Asian tasty goodness that eventually trickles down into the savory tastiness that is the Starry Kitchen Pan-Asian flavor EXPLOSION… ka-PLOOOOOW!

Don’t forget, we gotz service tonight. What’s on the menu you ask… again… and again… and again? Well, I’m glad you asked Mr. Norris and your legion of Soloflex sales people ready to take my order at ANY MOMENT! So you gotz two options:

So the show must go on, and we have 3 more test-runs DownTown starting with tonight.  Read below my post below on this other blog I’m a contributor for (and if you’re in LA and on Tumblr you should join… it’s purdy cool!)

I cannot emphasize enough if you’re going to come by, PLEASE read the parking garage instructions.  It’s FREE parking at our structure tonight too.  Why would you want to pass that up, and not walking far?!?!

As it mentions below, this ain’t your NoHo suggestion donation moolah, but it’s not much more AND it’s in a legit place.  How crazy is that, right?

But hey, if you’re on the fence coming downtown tonight… why not consider eating din dins at our place, and then get a drinkie or three at Casa, or just head to Little Tokyo or K-Town afterwards for some wholesome karaoke!  There’s plenty to do, and did we mention 2 HOURS FREE PARKING??? ^_^

Hello all!

I’m new to this group so here goes a quick one time run-down of us…

(I promise future posts won’t be so verbose ^_^)

While all the taco trucks we’re running around, my wife and I started an “underground covert culinary operation” (aka Starry Kitchen) in our humble apartment kitchen in North Hollywood playing with Pan-Asian comfort food combinations, and we’ve recently been found and shutdown (no joke!)

Now 8-months, 32 dishes (and counting), and 22 5-star Yelp reviews (http://bit.ly/yelpsk) later we’re (thankfully) graduating and ramping up for the launch of a “legit” location, Starry Kitchen DownTown.

First, WOW… today’s been a fun and eventful day. We got some coverage on LA WEEKLY’s food blog, SQUID INK! YOWZA that’s cool! Check it out HERE. Fun stuff!

Secondly… many of you asked, therefore you shall receive. LEMONGRASS CHICKEN is returning (but don’t “call it a come back”) suckas! Now that we’ve update the design of the blog (did anyone notice that?!?!) w/ MORE info… I don’t think I’ll need to remind you guys as much the time, date and why we’re doing this. Unless your sole occupation was being a phone operator for one of the most famous Vietnamese men of all time, the one and only TOMMY VU! If that was your job, please look to the left banner, take a sharpie and please write the info down on the inside of your hand. OH YEAH, if you can bring those hot bikini babes straight from the 80’s too, that would be awesome!

Man I’m sleepy. Will write more tomorrow. Oh yeah, take a look at the pix above. Would you believe we have ALWAYS considered doing “bo luc lac” tacos too?!?! We wanted to wait ‘cause this sh-t is expensive fools! We’ll probably take a day to increase the “suggested donation” to compensate for the cost of this excellent piece of meat…. YUM YUM YUM YUM!!!!

THIS is not what we’re making, but one of my FAVORITE Vietnamese dishes: broken rice w/ a ton o’ meat (and steamed egg on the side) which is more commonly referred to as “Com Tam!” Man, I love this stuff. This was at Pho Bac which I mentioned before, which has pho to DIE for. But SOMETIMES I do crave the texture, flavors and serve-it-yourself fish sauce (oh YES) of broken rice. If you haven’t had it, TRY IT! It’s probably my most favorit-est Vietnamese comfort food around.

Now that I have your attention, you’re back at work, another Independence Day weekend is over and we still haven’t need Will Smith to save us for the likes of strange aliens yet- we can continue our STARRY KITCHEN service this Wednesday (July 8th) from 6 - 9p. I think I’ve mentioned what we’re serving a MILLION times, but for the sake of repetition (and you could have killed a brain cell or four with alcohol consumption over the weekend) we are serving a repeat of the great white hype known only as…

LEMONGRASS CHICKEN

This sh-t is good “SON”, and you best believe this IS going to sellout. I already have people foaming at the mouth getting ready for Wednesday. “Hump Day” can’t come fast enough for them (and I’m not just talking about the movie which I did like IMHO)

QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT

We’ve cleared 200 fans on Facebook. WOO HOO!!! (that’s of course barring anyone will remove us because of the countless updates I do, which has happened ^_^). This is a mild acheivement for some, but a great acheivement for us since we’re literally just selling these outta the back of our apartment still. Please suggest us to any of your friends via Facebook or Twitter. We’re pretty sure we’re going to move into serious business territory, so the more fans the better as we take on this world of taco trucks, food service and taking on THE MAN!

Until then, Aaron, a reader and friend sent me this link to educate me on a MUCH cooler group than GIRL’S GENERATION (which I just noticed someone took down the cute video link… damn you!!!). This is a group called 2NE1 (phonetically pronounced “twenty one”… I think… without the “t” consanant at the end, but I’m getting lost in details again). I have to say, this video is HOT SH-T! Pretty F’ING COOL what they’re doing in Asia, and especially S.Korea. ENJOY!

Alright, as you already know we’re serving yummy-rrific LEMONGRASS CHICKEN tomorrow.  People have been BEGGING us to bring it back… and so we did!  Our VEGGIE alternative will be a mouthwatering (I’m trying not to drool on my keyboard just thinking about it… ooops, too late!) SPICY LEMONGRASS TOFU.  All of this SK goodness served w/ a side of PEANUT DAN DAN NOODLES.  NOW, if you are either:

A completely peanut butter wussy (aka you’re “allergic” to peanuts)
You’re uninformed in the ways of cilantro (aka you just don’t like it)
Then we’ll consider a fun alternative for you like a unicorn ride, leprechaun rainbow slide or a Yeti mountain hike.  I think that’s fair… that or an extra taco (I suggest the extra taco, because the others are too ummm… cost and reality prohibitive ^^)

We’ll see everyone tomorrow.  And don’t worry about us changing.  An LA Weekly blog posting is not going to change ANYTHING about us.  I mean if we just HAPPEN to have a neon sign, wait staff, and greeting people all decked out in gucci and speaking w/ made up British accents… it still us beneath all that…pizzazz.  Yup, we’re still…. SASSY!
