Starry Kitchen
Hot diggity DAMN! These last couple of days have been BUSY!! So if you barely know me or are coming to us from an igloo in Alaska (WELCOME AlaskaSIA!), I, the mysteriously handsome and charming STARRY KITCHEN blogger extraordinaire (or quite the contrary), actually work in the film biz (someone’s gotta sweep the floors on the lot). What does that have to do with the four tasty sauces above? Again, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Btw, ALL the meetings & pitches I’ve taken recently, the MINUTE I mention STARRY KITCHEN and our concept, ALL conversation gets derailed completely. Not sure if my other colleagues are appreciating it, but sure beats all the normal gossip we in the film industry dole out (IMHO - film biz = glorified high school ^^).

But anyway, more about ME… or actually US! We’ve been at the Los Angeles Film Festival all weekend, catching up with old friends, making new ones (like our new friend Chris Pine aka New Capt. Kirk… okay, we just ran into him at a bar through a friend of a friend of a… well, that’s Hollywood!) drinking free booze and watching films. So that would explain the lack of content the last couple of days. So sorry!

Just to break this shit up, here’s a picture of my favorite imaginary past time (squirrel fishing) that my alter-ego, CRAFTY BARNARDO (that’s my wu-tang name foo’, find what “wu are you” click HERE dawg):

From Blog Pics

Okay, let’s get this F’ing show on the M’FING ROAD! “AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!” The sauces above are a variety of sauces we tested out before. These include the GS3 (Ginger Sake Sesame Sauce), the mango avocado salsa, a sweet-sour Thai peanut sauce, and some olive oil concoction that has since disappeared into oblivious (KA BLOOMIE!!!!). You might ask again, why the sauces? Well, alcohol MIGHT have something to do with it… or just the fact that we didn’t take any pics tonight and thought that might be a good cheapie hold over. Not good enough for you CHUCK NORRIS!? Well you can go ahead and suck it! And of course, by “it” I mean you should SUCK a tasty Blow Pop w/ a sugary gummy center… I didn’t REALLY mean to make any lude references to any genitalia… well, at least not MY genitalia. So get your head out of the gutter and pay attention, there’s a brain washing instructional video below. Which is a HINT for this Sunday’s service:

Last reminders: #1 - service is ON for Tuesday (June 23rd) nite from 6-9p, and we’re serving Korean Kalbi/beef short-ribs. #2 - Sunday service is still on from 12-3p. Do you need a secret, then read the paragraph above dummy!

Until tomorrow,

Is it FINALLY… TACO TRUCK TIME??? We don’t know, but that seems to be the trend, and many here think we should finally do it. What do you guys think? Many think our food is better than Kogi’s and we could give them a run for their money. (btw Kogi fans, we give total props to them for popularizing this Asian taco craze… it’s a whole lotta fun)

We did set out to be aggressive when we first started, and that was barely over a month ago when we decided to just do it and three days later we were serving our “thit kho” tacos up that Sunday! It’s kind of scary, but I think we’re ready. We got 5-6 solid dishes, and our resident Kitchen Ninja (she hates being called “Chef” btw) has like almost another 10-20 ideas brewing in that creative culinary noodle of hers. Why should we stop her? You guys seem to like it, and we aim to please.

FYI - We gotta go raise some dough to do it though, but if any of you know someone that wants to back this (yeah, I actually am asking you) please let us know.

“All the things I could do if I had a little money…” (you betta know we love us some Abba… okay, okay- I LOVE ME SOME ABBA… WOO HOO)

Oh YEAH, you’re probably wondering what the pic is WAY above. It’s your next hint for Sunday’s service dish du jour! I was wondering if that looks a little strange in a picture, but I said “F it” ‘cause it tastes so damn good I might as well tempt you to figure it out or try it yourself (you’ll be more successful with the latter ^_^)

Weekday Service UPDATE
NO WED (June 24th) NITE SERVICE THIS UPCOMING WEEK. Next week we’re serving on Tuesday, June 23rd from 6p - 9p. Sorry, I’ll be honest that we have a screening to go at the Los Angeles Film Festival, but hey I also work in film. Gotta juggle the best of both worlds! If it helps cushion the blow (YOWZA!), Tues night we’re serving our version of the kalbi short-ribbed tacos which was repeat from a couple of years go.

Sorry, not as much irreverent, non-sensical and sometimes non-sequitur humor this time around. More serious reflection on an exciting and yet scary road ahead of us. Life’s short and it’s about time for Kitchen Ninja Thi Tran to play HARD too!

So let me ask all of you again, and please feel free to comment:

Do you think Starry Kitchen is ready for taco truck land?

Sunday’s dish du jour service: Vietnamese lemongrass pork = the SH’ZNIT! I can’t emphasize enough how much I like this dish. It’s has so much flavor and works so well that we’re excited to have you guys try this one.

NOTE: while it has the same main herb (lemongrass), this is not and DOES NOT taste the same as lemongrass chicken. The Vietnamese (my peeps) are not ones to be very elaborate with the naming conventions, but never short of creativity when it comes to flavor. An words are cheap right, so the proof is in the pudding… or in this case, the taco!

So, while tomorrow is Father’s Day, let’s consider Sunday’s… Pan-Asian Taco Time (P.A.T.T. for short) buckaroos!!!

Hope everyone enjoy’s their Saturday. We’ll be at the Los Angeles Film Festival checking out our friend’s film, DEAR LEMON LIMA. If you’re around, be sure to say “Hi,” and we can talk some mo’ about our delectible delights.
