Starry Kitchen
What is this tomfoolery of a blog post? This post looks STRANGELY like the previous post… WEIRD! Well, you’re almost right. So, I’ve heard from at least one of you (and yeah, it was actually just 1 of you) that your company blocks access to file-sharing sites like Picasa (which we use for our menu and blog pics) for previous internet abuse… TSK TSK! So, here’s my attempt to alleviate that so you CAN see the culinary deliciousness that MIGHT be our menu. :)  Link to the left: still Picasa. Picture above: clicking it should open up a larger file/image. From now on, when I do my Monday Menu update post, I’ll do the same where the link on the left will be Picasa, and the link above COULD take you to a larger file/image OR maybe just whisk you away to a whimsical and faraway land where unicorns, leprechauns and people doing stupid stuff to themselves are the norm (i.e. YouTube). ^_^ And without any segue at all… See this pic above, these are the Kitchen Ninja’s family (aunt, uncle, cousin) from Australia… who we didn’t even KNOW was in town… and we didn’t even KNOW they knew about our restaurant (the miracles of the internet).  I dunno, it’s kind of crazy, and possibly becoming a trend too.  Last week I had a friend from high school who I haven’t seen in YEARS (and still lives in Dallas) come by too. … I just thought I’d mention that.  One day we can look back on this blog entry and say “WoW, I couldn’t have been sober writing any of this stuff.. what was I thinking??” And on that note… Wouldn’t it be cool if we had a commercial for SK like this one? (and yes, I am tempted to do something like this in the future… I already have an idea ^_^) I saw this years ago randomly with the Kitchen Ninja, my lil sis and her now husband… but NOW I do have a restaurant and actually could create a monstrosity just like in this commercial. (one can dream, right?? :D) Love, TEAM SK

Did ya see us on TV or on the web? Yeah?!?! NICE… But I’m A RUNNIN’ late so no more time for those shenanigans, back to the business of makin’ grub! Updated menu above, but here are the quick updates: WHAT’S THE “BYE-BYE” DISH: I’m sorry to say that this week’s gonna be a DOUBLE WHAMMY LEMONGRASS TOFU SK SPICY CRAB CAKES If you remember, and I’ll jog your memory, the Crab Cakes (also known as the “Crack” Crab Cakes) were a special addition… kinda like a Chef’s or Kitchen Ninja’s Special.  Either way, ONE MORE WEEK before they go away! NEW: As suggested and informally voted on by our Facebook fans… “NOM NOM” PORK Also known as “Nem Nuong” to those in the know.  It’s basically VN BBQ Ground Pork, and you can find it most commonly in those yummy spring rolls that everyone loves… and we serve them “OC”-style (yes, OC not OG) w/ a crispity crunchy surprise in every bite (for the sammie and wrap form).  Here’s a sample of what that lil crispy surprise looks like! And it gets served w/ a yummy and traditional Vietnamese meat sauce we lovingly call YUM YUM SK SAUCE Also new, we’re taking out the SK CHOPPED SIDE SALAD and replacing it with: SK SESAME ASIAN SLAW Doh, I’m running outta time, but since many of you have commented on how “BORING” the side salad is (hey, it’s a side salad) we’re bringing this in to see what you think, ya’ll! How you THOUGHT you could evade us and never see the light of day, but ALAS we have crept up on you and now that we’re here all we have to say to you in this incredibly long run-on sentence is: “MALAYSIAN CHICKEN CURRY!!!!” Now scurry and be on your merry way because we gots business to tend to. :) HELLO AMERICA! We hope everyone had a great time this weekend! Whether it was at the GRILLED CHEESE INVITATIONAL (maybe we’ll compete next year!) or the totally SWEET and hip-ly independent design + gift show, UNIQUE LA (I got me a SWEET shirt from there!), it was a great and non-crappy weekend to be out-and-about in our fair city (if I don’t say so myself). (next to SK lunchie munchies of course ^_^) So HERE we are SK fans, n00bs and family/friends alike.  Our experiment gone RIGHT has made it this far, and since many of you may be new I’ve included a link the the current version of the menu for you (that and it’s cheaper than actually paying for an FTP host LOL). Check it out, check out the links on the left… and if you work in DTLA in the Financial District… hopefully you’ll come check us and don’t hesitate to say “Hi!” either.  I might be the shyest Asian guy you’ve ever met, but sometimes I come out of my shell and make an effort.
