Starry Kitchen
Peanut Cilantro “Dan Dan” Dipping Sauce - that was one of two dipping sauces for the hotpot this last Friday!  And if it sounds familiar, this is the same sauce we use for our Dan Dan Noodle side dish too.
SO we already gave our shout outs on Facebook, so no need for that.  And as one (and our FIRST SK DownTown) Yelp reviewer put it, we are indeed more active on Facebook (http://facebook.com/starrykitchen) than that there Twitter (but we’re on there too - http://twitter.com/starrykitchen).  Check out the Yelp review here (it’s amazing we didn’t post about our 1st review from SK DT that much, huh): http://bit.ly/skdtla
But anyway, the Supper Club went really well, and we were actually quite glad it was smaller than the allotted 20 spots we “thought” we could handle too! ^_^  From the looks of things, everything from the chicken wings, the lotus leaf steam fried rice, the incredible smörgåsbord that was our hotpot to the pandan vanilla churros was a success!  So are we gonna do this again?  You bet your bottom dollar… CHUCK NORRIS!!!
Even though NoHo’s shut down, the experiment that is STARRY KITCHEN continues into 2010 now w/ our focus on opening SK DownTown and continuing our Supper Club series.  We’ll probably do the Supper Club bi-monthly or once a month when we can fit it into our schedules.  Just keep on the look out, and we’ll announce more plans here and everywhere. :)

Wanna know what THIS is? Well, it’s a churro.  OOOH, it doesn’t look like a churro, huh?  Well it is… but it’s a Kitchen Ninja STARRY KITCHEN LATE NITE SPECIAL PANDAN VANILLA HANDROLLED CHURRO covered in sweetly decadent (and OOOOooh so good) powdered sugar!  Why is it handrolled you ask?  Because we broke the thing that supposed to give it that churro shape… but no matter because these were so DELCIOUS!!!  I mean every bite was awesome.  I might have eaten TOO many at one time and have a stomach ache because I devour desserts like a fat kid…. ummm, maybe I won’t use a fat kid analogy here… or maybe I don’t care… aww hell I can’t even think of a joke right now so I won’t go there just because of that!  But anyway, just know that F’ING A MAN I love it when the Kitchen Ninja craves for something different (and she’s not even pregnant… I think.. I mean she isn’t…I promise! ^^).

Alright, as you already know we’re serving yummy-rrific LEMONGRASS CHICKEN tomorrow.  People have been BEGGING us to bring it back… and so we did!  Our VEGGIE alternative will be a mouthwatering (I’m trying not to drool on my keyboard just thinking about it… ooops, too late!) SPICY LEMONGRASS TOFU.  All of this SK goodness served w/ a side of PEANUT DAN DAN NOODLES.  NOW, if you are either:

A completely peanut butter wussy (aka you’re “allergic” to peanuts)
You’re uninformed in the ways of cilantro (aka you just don’t like it)
Then we’ll consider a fun alternative for you like a unicorn ride, leprechaun rainbow slide or a Yeti mountain hike.  I think that’s fair… that or an extra taco (I suggest the extra taco, because the others are too ummm… cost and reality prohibitive ^^)

We’ll see everyone tomorrow.  And don’t worry about us changing.  An LA Weekly blog posting is not going to change ANYTHING about us.  I mean if we just HAPPEN to have a neon sign, wait staff, and greeting people all decked out in gucci and speaking w/ made up British accents… it still us beneath all that…pizzazz.  Yup, we’re still…. SASSY!

Until then, here’s less of a video and more of another music introduction.  It’s probably too techno-ie for the US (even though I first heard it on KROQ here), I still loves it (and I do like techno too… I think).  Enjoy PROPANE NIGHTMARES from Pendulum.  And if you don’t like it… please don’t let me know.  I’m very sensitive and just want to be accepted for who I am… and for what I eat! ;)
